Manchester, UK – Shayne Ward, winner of the X Factor, 2005, and soon to be the new star in Coronation Street is preparing for a charity horse ride, of 150 miles in Andalusia, Spain, in an effort to raise both money and awareness for autism.

Shayne has now called the trip, which is taking place in July, his Spaghetti Western Trek as he will be passing through locations used in famous films such as, The Good, The Bad And Ugly.

Shayne’s nephew has autism and he is hoping to raise £8,000 for the Manchester based charity, Hearts & Minds Challenge, of which he is Patron.

He has spent three months learning to ride at CPB Production, a specialist training centre in Heywood, Lancashire.

Shayne told Autism Daily Newscast:

“I’m excited and honoured to be taking part in the Spaghetti western horse trek to raise funds for  Hearts & Minds Challenge and I want to help them fight the right fight in any way that I can. The work they do is vital for those with autism as they assist with early intervention and early education. Having personal experience of it, I see why it is so important to help those affected and their families.”

He will be joined on the trek by friend and fellow fundraiser Cheryl Broadfoot, whose eight-year-old son, Bobby has autism and epilepsy. The pair met when Cheryl helped to organise a charity football match called Charity Football Challenge, of which other celebrities such as One Direction’s Niall Horan and James Corde took part.

Cheryl told us:

“I am really looking forward to the Spaghetti Western horse trek to raise funds for Hearts and minds. To have someone who is as busy and as high profile as Shayne to take time out of his schedule, to join me on this challenge is a real honour . I will be forever grateful to him for his help and enthusiasm in hel;ping raise funds and awareness for autism . A cause that is close to my heart. Hopefully we can raise enough money and awareness so other children like my own son can be helped in the same way “
