  • Although the “Autism’s Sexiest Celebrity Men” contest is a fun things to do, I find it to be truly sexist. There are plenty of female celebrity autism advocates out there. Why do the men warrant a “sexy” classification?

    • Laura, I planned on following up with a similar one for women – although I personally didn’t want to use “sexy” as I do think it to be even more sexist when applied to women. People magazine does a cover for men but do they for women? I don’t know.

Unfortunately, I was unable to come up with enough women who did anything behind the scenes specifically in 2014. Now don’t get me wrong – I bet there are a lot out there but the media didn’t pick them up. As for celebrities who are autism advocates, I think there are a lot and most are women. So I had been thinking of doing a story on that but probably not a poll.

As to your question, Why do the men warrant a “sexy” classification? – it was more tongue in cheek. They really don’t and in my opening paragraph I said that these guys did nice things and that is sexy to me. I didn’t say but hope to imply that looks alone aren’t what make a man sexy.

Thanks for your comment and I hope that explains my rational.
