Los Angeles — Jamaican rapper Sean Kingston apologized Thursday for a post on his Facebook page mocking Gavin Joseph, a teen who was recently beaten by bullies for being ‘different’. Gavin has Asperger’s syndrome. We reported on this story and can be read here: Teen with Asperger’s refuses to press charges against bullies who beat him up.

In a post Kingston made on his official Twitter account, the 25-year-old insisted that he wasn’t behind the offensive post. He told:

Kingston added:

The link posted on Kingston’s Facebook page said: “Tip of the day: If you start a fight, You better know how to fight or this will be happen! Pic#4 is insane! Ha!,” and below the words was an image of the beaten up Gavin, attached on a link to an article that told of the story behind the teen’s beating.

Social media users were outraged by the post, writing comments intended to lash back at Kingston. Some of them said:

“#readbeforeyoupost moron, no wonder your career is down the drain.”

“Really stupid tip, coming from a really stupid person.”

“How About You Read The Story First SEAN KINGSTON, Before You Start To Make Stupid Comments!!!!,”

A representative for Kingston told the Daily Mail that an outside vendor is responsible for posting updates on the rapper’s Facebook page.

The vendor later on admitted to TMZ that they haven’t read the article about Gavin before posting it, and said that they were under the impression that the message they were trying to convey told people not to fight individuals on the spectrum, because they will fight back. But when told that Gavin did not fight back, the vendor told TMZ:

“We messed up.”
