Mother of child with Down syndrome petitions Disney to include more characters with disabilities

DisneyAntioch, Calif. — Keston Ott-Dahl who is mother to a child with Down syndrome has o hand delivered a petition to The Walt Disney Studios. The petition asks for Disney to include more characters who have a disability.

Keston and partner, Andrea, are parents to Delaney who is 17-months-old, and have two older children. The petition that was delivered Nov. 26 had over 75,000 signatures.

The family report that Disney’s reply to the petition was  noncommittal.

Paul Roeder, who is the senior vice president of global communications wrote that the Disney brand have always been inclusive and further adds:

“We constantly strive … to share compelling storylines from our studios and media networks that … reflect the incredibly rich diversity of the human experience.”

Keston Ott-Dahl is still optimistic that Disney will consider the opinions of those who participated in the petition.

Her final words being:

“And if not, I’ll keep on ‘em,”
