Concord, NC – An area mother of a son with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is calling for the dismissal of a teacher who used hot sauce as a form of punishment to discipline the 11 year old grade school student.
Cindy Joseph is considering taking legal action against the teacher after the individual was caught using the condiment to discipline her son DJ in an attempt to discourage him from touching his nose inappropriately. After the sauce was found in the classroom, school administrators felt that they had sufficient grounds to suspend the teacher for the incident the following day.
Although officials alerted Joseph of the situation, the mother had difficulty believing that it had occurred. However now, Joseph firmly believes that the teacher should be held accountable and therefore be fired as a result of what transpired.
“I don’t think she should be allowed to be teaching period, with any kids, whether they have a disability or not disability and she should not be allowed to have a license.”
Although the teacher has since left the job and is now employed at a different school, Joseph insists that the individual should no longer be permitted to work with children and has revealed that she may file charges.
