Mortgage finance company Freddie Mac is seeking adults with autism to fill four paid internship positions in a partnership with the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network. The full-time positions are at Freddie Mac’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and are sixteen weeks long, with the potential for full-time employment after the internship period. The positions are as follows:
1. Architecture and Data Services Intern
Duties include assisting team in improving documentation of department processes, supporting organization in creating department reports and metrics against data. Job functions include creating new or updating existing process documentation to reflect organization and process changes, recommending automated solutions to increase the efficiency of office processes, submitting documentation to team members for review and feedback, participating in discussions with team members about found issues with processes and offer potential solutions, maintaining a tracking log of issues to ensure that all items get addressed for completion, and collecting feedback regarding new processes to adjust where needed.
Desired skills include SQL, MySQL, Share Point, JAVA, Ruby, Gralis, Instructional writing, process documentation (ARIS), and analysis summarization. Skills acquired include process management, analysis, SharePoint, and Dreamweaver.
2. SF, CFO Strategy, Planning and Development Analyst Intern
Duties include creating and populating a spreadsheet database storing a history of financial data elements needed for a financial estimation and scenario analysis tool under development, gathering the required history of financial data elements from existing Single Family Finance source documents or by querying the data from corporate financial sources, and working with analyst’s manager to design and apply methods as needed to transform required data into usable formats and resolve data discrepancies. May also apply Visual Basic programming to automate logic in financial estimation and scenario tool analysis under development.
Required skills include moderate proficiency in MS Excel, MS-Office type word processing and presentation tools, and Micro Strategy or similar database querying and reporting tools. Also requires good attention to detail, problem-solving skills, ability to communicate technical challenges clearly and concisely, ability to work independently, ability to escalate issues promptly, willingness to work on structured, repetitive tasks, and basic familiarity with financial vocabulary.
3. Securities Internship
Duties include analyzing mortgage-backed security issuance to understand trends and security characteristics, examining mortgage-security prepayment speeds and determining any anomalies in speeds and researching possible causes, and assisting with special projects including helping to create the MBS investor relations Sharepoint Site and updating Internal Training Presentations about Securitization business.
Required skills include strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work in a team setting.
4. Testing Internship
Duties include creating test cases as per Systems Development Life-cycle (SDLC) guidelines and reviewing them with peers, executing and capturing test case results of all test cases executed, verifying completeness of test case entries, creating defects, checking-in documents into Sharepoint and updating test lead or Senior Test Engineer of daily test status via e-mail.
Required skills include UNIX, SQL, and Excel, knowledge of running back-end jobs, and the ability to multitask.
