Care Trak Wrist Bands
Care Trak Wrist Bands

If you have a person at home who needs special attention due to wandering or bolting, you are definitely looking for a device that makes the job easier for you.  The newer systems are based on GPS technology and they allow you to search for your lost loved ones or other items with the help of satellites. However, there are times when GPS technology is not the best option and Care Trak fills the gap very well in this scenario.

Did you know that GPS technology only works well outdoors? Clear line of sight has been the most common problem with GPS technology and if something is in the way of the satellite and your device, you will not be able to track your loved one. You don’t expect a kid with autism to act all genius and know that he has to stay away from trees and not lie down on his device to allow the satellite to communicate uninterrupted with the device. This is not the case with Telemtry system that Care Trak uses to locate your loved ones.

This system locates people wearing a wristband with the help of radio waves. The best thing about these waves is that they get through walls very easily. Think about listening to your radio in the car or even at home; it happens because the radio waves are easily passing through the walls. That’s not the case with the GPS technology; however, assisted GPS technology is now intended to take care of this issue. Another important thing why you should consider the Care Trak system is because it is one of the easiest things to use when locating someone.

It doesn’t require you to be a computer expert and know how to use various online map applications and softwares to locate the person. What if you have a nanny taking care of the child and she’s not very familiar with internet and computer? Even if she is, you can’t expect her to turn on the computer, look for the software, double click the software, open it and wait for internet to load the information of missing person’s location after a delay of 5 minutes. The best way to locate the missing person right away is to use the Care Trak system.

It catches the radio waves in the air and lets you know through a strong of weak signal about the location of the person. The closer you get to the missing person the stronger the signals will become and it’s just that easy. Furthermore, you can use the home system for autistic children in which you define a perimeter beyond which you are alerted through an alarm if the child goes out of it. Care Trak system is also one of the most affordable systems you can look for in the market. It works well whether it’s raining, clouded or even if the missing person is inside a building.

The device is quite small, although it does stick out a bit, and wristbands come in different sizes and material to ensure they can be attached properly. Maintenance is low with only the battery as the ongoing cost, but one must remember to change the batteries every other month. Total cost per year is around $40.00 It is very cost effective and there is assistance for those families on fixed incomes.

Care Track works closely with Police services and the device is ONLY made available to those with special needs.  It is a US based company. The web site explains their mission:

“Our goal at Care Trak is to save lives. Care Trak created telemetry based tracking for people at risk in 1986. Since then our equipment has located thousands of Alzheimer’s wanderers and children with special needs such as Autism, Down syndrome and other conditions and brought them home safely.”
