Kansas City,Missouri – School personnel at Southwest Early College Campus have been placed on administrative leave after a girl with autism was repeatedly raped by classmates on school premises.

The Kansas City School District are now working to make schools safer KCTV5 news reports.

A boy and girl were taken into custody on April 1 and are now in the custody of juvenile authorities.

The 15-year-old girl was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital by her parents on Wednesday after she told them she had been repeatedly raped while at school.

The girl woke her parents up in the middle of the night to say she was experiencing pain in her vagina. The girl said an eighth-grader had repeatedly raped her while a female eighth grader had served as a look out, according to a police report obtained by KCTV5.

The attacks occurred in a room that were out of view of surveillance cameras, each attack occurred before the girl’s math class. Kansas City Public Schools Superintendent Stephen Green said:

“There will be additional personnel placed on administrative leave if the investigation uncovers additional facts that warrant their removal. Once the investigation is complete, a final decision will be made about whether they will continue as employees of KCPS or will be dismissed. I have directed my team to take any and all steps necessary to insure the safety of our students and our staff at SWECC,”

The district refused to identify the employees placed on leave and Principal Edwin Richardson is no longer running the school’s day-to-day operations.

The police report said that the girl did not inform her parents sooner as she feared her father:

“would attempt to handle the situation himself and get into trouble,”

The girl’s mother told police that her daughter who has autism does not always fully comprehend and communicate in the same way as other children. Social workers were to conduct an interview of the girl and the state’s child abuse hotline was notified.
