Covington, Louisiana — A teenager is recovering in hospital after he was knocked out in what some people call the “knockout game.” The boy’s jaw was broken in two places. The teen, 17 is on the autistic spectrum.
His mother who wishes to remain anonymous told WDSU 6 News:
“He has autism he would never hurt anybody,”
The mother believes her son was the victim of the knockout game. He was walking home from the library when the attack took place. He is believed to have passed a group of teens who attend a nearby school.
His mother said:
“All of a sudden the boy in the maroon shirt came up from behind him punched him from behind in his face he fell to the ground,”
The teenager now has four plates and 15 screws in his mouth and is on a completely liquified diet for the next eight weeks.
The Covington police chief tells WDSU the incident is isolated.
Anyone with information that can help police is asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-111.
