Gigi Jordan – We have reported on the case of Gigi Jordan numerous times, the mother who back in 2010 administered a lethal cocktail of drugs to her autistic son aged 8 years. Our reports can be read here and here.

The New York Times reported that the jury residing over this case have now found Gigi Jordan guilty of manslaughter and have rejected the prosecution’s call for a murder charge to be given. Lawyers however state that she is going to appeal this verdict.

Gigi Jordan when sentenced will face five to 25 years in prison.

She maintained during the trial that the killing was an act of mercy stating:

“I didn’t see any way out of this situation,”

“I made a decision that I was going to end my life and Jude’s life.”

Michael Cahill who is a Professor at Brooklyn Law School told how uncommon this case is:

“The idea of killing someone to spare them from other forms of pain is not a scenario you see often,”
