Augusta, Maine – In a landslide vote, Maine senate governors have voted against a veto on blanket health insurance coverage for autism treatment.
The vote which went 30-5 in the favour of providing insurance for diagnosis and treatment overturned Republican Gov Paul LePage’s rejection of the measure for the state on Thursday May 1.
Current Maine law states that health insurance only pay for diagnosis and treatment is available for the under 5’s only. The new proposed bill would see life long treatment covered and is heading up to the House for a final vote in the near future.
