Canton, Massachusetts – President of Canton-based Humboldt Storage and Moving. Jim Sullivan decided he needed to help families with autistic individuals when they needed to move home.
He therefore contacted the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism as well as the video production company, Ablevision, and together they made a plan.
Earlier this month they made instructional videos and a downloadable toolkit in order to aid those families moving with autistic members.
Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism approached local autism support groups to gain advice and information from families. Autism Support Center and Community Resources for People with Autism provided most of the advice for both the videos and the toolkit.
Tips gained included showing images of the new home and visiting the new neighborhood.
Jim Sullivan said.
“This isn’t about Humboldt,” he said. “This is about any family that’s moving with an individual on the autism spectrum.”
