Disney's DescendantsFilm and television reviews by our resident autistic film critic Maymay.

A present-day idyllic kingdom where the benevolent teenage son of King Adam and Queen Belle offers a chance of redemption for the trouble making offspring of Disney’s classic villains: Cruella De Vil (Carlos), Maleficent (Mal), the Evil Queen (Evie) and Jafar (Jay). Disney’s Descendants takes place in a present-day idyllic kingdom, where the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making spawn of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power, or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?

I thought this was a good Disney Channel movie. I thought the actors and actresses for the kids are good for their characters. My favorite characters were Mal, Evie, and Jay. I don’t really understand why they went with purple and blue hair for Mall and Evie and I’m pretty sure the purple changed to a different shade of purple or red by the end. My favorite song in it is most definitely Rotten to the Core. It’s very catchy and fun to listen too. I like that they chose Maleficent though. She is my favorite Disney villain out of all them. Although Hades is an extremely close second. I wonder what his kid would look like if he was apart of this story. I know it wouldn’t work because he’s a god and all but still. I’m curious to know what all the villain descendants would look like. There’s Ursula, Hades, Dr.Facilier, Mother Gothel, Governor Ratcliffe, Hans ,and I’m sure there is a lot more. Excpet Cinderella’s step mother. I can just picture the two step sister from the movie on the Isle of the Lost and they would probably go crazy. Those kids went through so much trouble just to get a magic wand and it was all for nothing.
