Gwenne Coltman, 54, Wheatley, Halifax, UK – has been shortlisted for a national autism award.
The mother of 2 has worked for 37 years in the field of autism care and has now been nominated for a lifetime achievement award by the National Autistic Society (NAS) Autism Professionals Awards.
Gwenne works as a support development manager for Autism Support and Care and has also worked in the field of autism on both a professional and voluntary basis.
Gwenne said:
“I’m the sort of person who just gets on with my job, so to be recognised for that has been incredibly humbling.”
She adds:
“All I’ve tried to do is be a clear voice for autism, and it’s something I’ve been passionate about since the age of 16.”
Gwenne was nominated by Richard Ibbotson who is the national director of Scotland for Autism Initiatives. They have worked together for 15 years as members and consecutive Chairs of CoSPPA (Coalition of Senior Professionals Working with People with Autism).
