Girl Meets World is the hugely popular TV show that is aired on the Disney Channel. It is the sequel to the 90’s cult classic, Boy Meets World.

A special episode will be broadcast this Friday, September 11. Star of the show Rowan Blanchard tweeted:

The upcoming episode will feature a storyline based around a character with Asperger’s syndrome.

According to a press release issued on TV by the numbers, Corey Fogelmanis who plays Farkle Minkus told:

“Three experts consulted on the episode to help deliver an authentic storyline that can spark conversation among kids and their families.”

Corey explained that his character in the show has often wondered if he is on the autism spectrum. The press release further adds:

“While Farkle wonders if he has Asperger’s Syndrome, Riley and Maya show empathy and acceptance.”

The two key words here are ’empathy’ and ‘acceptance’.

We really do hope that this episode can help its viewers to embrace difference and to further educate on the subject of autism.
