Ireland – Keith Duffy, actor, singer and parent to a daughter with autism is Patron of the charity Irish Autism Action (IAA). To date Mr Duffy has helped to raise a total of €4m for families affected by autism.
Now the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) have awarded Mr Duffy an honorary fellowship. Catherine Clune Mulvaney recommended Mr Duffy for this honour due to his autism advocacy work for families affected by autism.
“His hard work and determination have raised vital funding for specialist service development across the country, increasing the availability of much needed education programmes and support structures.”
She continued to add that Mr Duffy has also helped to raise awareness regarding the need for early intervention and education for children who are on the autistic spectrum.
