New York — Maltese First Lady Michelle Muscat, wife of Malta Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, attended the Autism Speaks conference held in New York earlier this year. This is the second year that Malta’s first lady took part in the event for the autism advocacy organization.
Autism Speaks celebrates World Autism Awareness Day each year on April 2 with its Light It Up Blue event, along with the international autism community. This year, the facade of Auberge de Castille in Valetta, Malta was illuminated with blue lights as the country joins the international community in celebrating the global campaign towards autism awareness.
Michelle is also an honorary president for the Association of Parents of Children with Autism as well as the chairperson for the Marigold Foundation– a non-profit organization in Malta which aims to work with various non-government organizations in upholding different charitable activities across the country.
According to Michelle, she tries her best to make time for every charitable organization who ask for her support. In an interview with Sunday Circle’s Sarah Borg, Michelle told:
“We are a small country, where everyone believes their charity is of value to the community so I try to be there for charities and other organisations which ask for my contribution.”
