This film is inspired by an extraordinary true story. It’s the summer of 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power and the National Union of Mineworkers is on strike, prompting a London-based group of gay and lesbian activists to raise money to support the strikers’ families. Initially rebuffed by the Union, the group identifies a tiny mining village in Wales and sets off to make their donation in person. As the strike drags on, the two groups discover that standing together makes for the strongest union of all.
I really liked this movie a lot. I liked how the gays and lesbians of London came together to help the miners in Wales. They were treated badly by a lot of people but they kept helping and fighting for the miners. I really liked Gwen. She was so funny in this movie. I thought Mark did well putting this whole thing together.He had great plans to make sure the miners had money to support their families. I thought the way they were treated by most people was unfair and mean. I really liked the dance scene and the ball scene. They looked really fun. Jonathan Blake was one of the first people to be diagnosed with HIV in his country and had recently celebrated his 65 birthday. Dominic West who played Jonathan did a very good job and was a really good dancer too. My favorite character of all is definitely Gwen. I also like Steph too.

A great reveiw, to a great film, really enjoyed it myself, as i am a coal miner and can remember some of the events that happened in 1984/5. Never thought it would make a film though!
