Autism Daily Newscast first wrote the story about Xena here in February when we reported that Xena the Warrior Puppy had been named the Dog of the Year in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) She is now one of eight finalists in the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards. Her category is Emerging Hero Dogs.
Key dates for the 2014 American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards included:
- January 15-February 28: Nominations Open
- March 7-June 6: Semifinalist voting
- June 13-June 30: Finalist Voting
- July 7-September 15: Grand prize 2014 American Hero Dog voting
According to the American Humane Association’s website:
“Finalists in each of the eight categories will be flown to Hollywood with two of their human friends to the American Humane Association Hero Dog Awards™ gala at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, California on September 27, 2014. There they will walk the red carpet, conduct VIP interviews, and attend the awards show and black-tie gala where the winning American Hero Dog for 2014 will be announced. Each of the eight finalists will win $1,500 for their chosen charity selected from the contest’s list of 15 charity partners. The top winner will win an additional $5,000 for their charity partner.”

The American public can now vote daily for their favorite until the close of September 15.
