Express CIC, based in Tolworth, is asking local residents to cast an online vote to support the group’s bid for a £5,000 community award from the OneFamily Foundation. They are competing against community groups from around the country to attract the largest number of votes.
Run by volunteers, Express provides art therapy for children with autism, helping them to express themselves and interact with others in a fun, supportive environment. They also run a support group for children who have a sibling with autism, allowing them to share their feelings and experiences.
“Winning this award would allow us to buy the art materials and fund the qualified therapists we need for our support groups,” says Express co-founder and director Annette Williams. “We are asking local people to simply vote online – it only takes a minute but could make a real difference to local children and their families.”
The OneFamily Foundation is a unique customer benefit fund, provided by mutual OneFamily, which has committed to make £5 million available to its members over the next five years to make their lives and communities better.

Express CIC is a not-for-profit organisation based in Kingston which aims to raise autism awareness in the community and to support people on the autism spectrum and their carers. We have a vision to create a community space which can provide support and access to opportunities for those with autism.
Official figures show that there are almost 500 families with a young person diagnosed with autism in Kingston-upon-Thames and an estimated 1,800 adults.
