Plymouth, UK – The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth will be holding a “quiet event” in observance of World Autism Awareness Week.
The event, which will encourage aquarium-goers to be keep noise levels down and wear their nicest “onesie” outfits, will be taking place on Wednesday April 1st. Organizers have announced that the evening will cater to individuals on the spectrum who can often become overwhelmed by loud noises and other environmental stimuli.
With worldwide autism rates increasing dramatically every year, many companies and organizations are opting to develop initiatives that help to provide support for both children and adults with special needs who patronize public facilities. Thus, the aquarium’s administrators are endeavoring to ensure that those in attendance will be provided with the opportunity to enjoy the majestic beauty of marine life by both accommodating those with exceptional needs and raising awareness regarding the disorder.
