Autism New Zealand – will be gearing up for its Inaugural Awards Dinner this Friday. Part of Autism New Zealand’s 2014 Conference, the dinner is designed to bring together people with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families/whanau and professionals and recognise their success in our community.Chief Executive Dane Dougan says:
“Whilst it’s in its beginnings as an awards feature, it’s great to have set down a time for everyone to relax, socialise and enjoy all that is contributed to the Autism community. We want to highlight some special people and work done and also create a unique chance to celebrate. This year’s awards dinner is the first of its kind and I hope that in time it will become a benchmark for achievement in the Autism community as well as a time for all to celebrate.”
Autism New Zealand is also grateful for the support from the Ministry of Health, Hamish Fletcher Lawyers and Bayleys Nelson who have generously sponsored the awards.
The categories include:
•Outstanding achievement by an individual with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
•Outstanding contribution by a volunteer to the autism community
•Outstanding contribution by a practitioner supporting people with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
