Tuscarora High School, Leesburg, Virginia – The High School’s volleyball team are to raise money for Autism Speaks.

The event will be held on Wednesday Jan 8 and will feature a contest between the teams’ seniors, coaches and alumni. Many of the team and teachers have links to autism.

Head Coach Meghan Puckli is an elementary school teacher who has several autistic children in her classroom.

Assistant Coach Shawn Gabel’s oldest son, Alexander, was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at age 5.

Junior Varsity Coach Dawn Brackens is a teacher’s aide for autistic students at the school.

Autism Spectrum Disorder affects more than 2 million individuals in the U.S.

The event will be held from 7-9 pm in the school’s main gym. Supporters can make a $5 donation at the gate or contribute to Autism Speaks online here
