Denver, CO – A local recycling company that hires individuals with autism spectrum disorder has recently opened a new location in Denver.
We first reported on BlueStar Recyclers in July 2014, Colorado Company Succeeds with Autism Workers -with video.
BlueStar Recyclers initially began in Colorado Springs and has been in operation for over five years, providing recycling services of electronic devices throughout the community. However, as previously reported, what sets this company apart from the rest is that it has become one that provides numerous employment opportunities for individuals who are on the spectrum.
Because approximately 90% of all adults with ASD are unemployed due to the lack of opportunities that currently exist in the job market for those with exceptional needs, BlueStar Recyclers’ initiative has effectively been a godsend for those who are willing and able to work. Mikey Quintana, one of the company’s employees asserts:
“My goal is to get my own place and keep working. Live life more”
However it has not only been beneficial for those who have secured employment with BlueStar as their employers consider the initiative to be an unmitigated success as well. Company administrators have revealed that the new hires’ work performance is exceptional and they therefore hope to continue to expand by hiring a dozen new employees by the end of the year.
