Nebraska health insurance must now cover autism diagnosis and treatment

Nebraska – A bill requiring health insurance companies to cover autism diagnosis and treatment has today been signed and made legislation. Nebraskan families have been pushing for a change in legislation for well over a year and this comes as a relief to those already living with autism in the state. In an interview with 5 news, Andrea Beck, an autism campaigner and mother of Trey who was diagnosed at 2 years old said:

“Senator Gloor did say that the reason that this bill got voted on in the first place was a lot of pressure from the families. They’ll be able to get treatment earlier which means these kids will be able to experience more social activities have the opportunity to get speech therapy occupational therapy where otherwise they wouldn’t so they can grow better in a normal school system.”
