moneyHelmsBriscoe charity fundraiser event, JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel, Monday, 27 January
– will be in aid of young adults with autism.

This will be its second annual event in support of young adults with autism in the meetings and events industry.

Carole McKellar, executive director, Europe at HelmsBriscoe who is organising the event is quoted on the meetpie.com website as saying:

“Last year more than £15,000 was raised to provide job placements in the meetings industry for six people and we’re hopeful of bigger results in 2014,”

She further adds that only 15 per cent of young adults on the autistic spectrum are employed in the UK and that by employers giving just a few hours of their time a week can really make a difference.

Guests at the event will be asked to give up a couple of hours for the HB Cares programme.

Work experience includes a 6 week training programme ‘Preparation for Employment’ and one-to-one guidance sessions as well as group workshops.

Chosen participants will also take part in an unpaid work placement which will run for 8 weeks with support from The National Autistic Society.
