Disability Independence Group (DIG) – Following on from our series about autism and law enforcement, the Disability Independence Group (DIG) got in touch with us in order to share their free individualized wallet card for persons on the autism spectrum.

The mission statement, taken from their website is as follows:
‘Expanding opportunities for participation, education, employment, and acceptance of persons with disabilities through advocacy, litigation, education, and training.’

The Wallet Card Project has developed through a partnership between DIG, The Coral Gables Police Department (CGPD), and the UM-NSU Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (UM-NSU CARD).

At present the card has been developed for persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or intellectual disabilities. To learn more about the wallet card, and to find out how to use it, please view the video below.

You can also fill out a form on the DIG website in order to receive a customized wallet card. Cards are taking approximately two weeks at the moment, due to high demand. For more information, please visit the website at http://www.justdigit.org/wallet-cards/#sthash.X8e7xri2.dpuf

If you have any questions, please email debbie@justdigit.org.
