Plymouth, Campaign for Disability Awareness Lessons (CFDAL) – We have reported on this campaign several times and our last report can be read here. Sharon Tiday, founder of CFDAL recently got in touch with us to tell us the exciting news that they have now been shortlisted for a Pride of Plymouth Community Award.
Sharon Tiday and Michelle Fallick, who both run the group have children with autism and set up the campaign in order to address the need for disability awareness lessons to be given in schools. They were nominated for the award by the Evening Herald.
Sharon also had some other exciting news to share. Plymouth MP, Chaz Singh, who is a labour parliamentary candidate has supported the campaign from the very beginning and introduced Doaa Shayea who is a para athlete, to them. Mr Singh has shown continued support and has introduced both Sharon and Michelle to those individuals and groups who are involved within the disability community
Doaa Shayea has now become the campaign’s Ambassador. She posted on her Facebook page:
“I am very pleased to announce I have been picked to be an ambassador for the Disability Awareness campaignFDAL. It is a massive honour and privilege to be a part of what these amazing people are doing for disability. So thank you, you are amazing with all the work you do for disabilities!:D”
