Massachusetts, Nicole Anderson – is a single mother and mum to little boy, Mikey, who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Nicola has set up a Go Fund Me page in order to raise funds for specialist equipment and an IPad for her son.
The website states:
‘he needs a special bed that will keep him safe and something like an IPad that will help him verbalize’
Nicola also adds that the diagnosis of ASD was one that she was not prepared for and that she was not financially prepared for it.
Nicola hopes to hold fundraisers in order to raise funds and hopes that people will be willing to donate to help her little boy. She is also looking for much needed support from other parents who have gone through similar circumstances.
‘I pray people will be willing to donate. I know the money will help him right now but I pray that people will help him in more ways than financially. If anyone has been through this please inbox me with regards to the best things that will benefit him.’
Mikey has been working with an agency known as Building Blocks who provide early intensive therapy for children with ASD.
Nicola really hopes to raise funds for an IPad, as she has contacted other parents whose children use them and has been told that they help the child to better communicate and express themselves. This is what she wants for Mikey.
Nicola’s latest update reads:
‘please anyone that can help please do so. I don’t care if it’s a dollar. Every penny counts today. Mikey is a runner and this is for his safety. Mikey needs all the support he can get. I don’t have to remind people that Mikey lost his father.’
So far $685 has been raised of the $1,500 target and has been open for a few months. Autism Daily Newscast hopes our article will help raise funds more quickly.
