Genesis II Church For Health and Healing, claims that “Miracle Mineral Solution” (MMS) is a miracle cure for serious afflictions and disorders including cancer, HIV and autism.
However the product, which contains a mixture of sodium chlorite, water and citric acid, is similar in chemical composition to bleach.
Some users claim to have experienced nausea, vomiting and low blood pressure after taking MMS which was initially used decades ago as a treatment for malaria.
However it has since been banned in the US, Canada and the UK. In an effort to circumvent the bans imposed on the product in the three countries, the non-religious church is holding a conference for it in Ireland, and promoting MMS as a water purifier.
An inability to secure appropriate licensing for MMS is another reason the church has opted to promote the product under a different name in new markets, such as Ireland, where conference entrance fees are $360.
Ireland’s primary health and food safety regulating bodies have thus been proactive, issuing warnings to the public in order to discourage use of the product.
